Meme rules :

  1. Leave me a comment saying, “Me, Me!!!” while waving your hand in the air.
  2. I will respond by asking you five questions.
  3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
  4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.

  1. You have quite an unusual name. Would you ever give your child a very uncommon name? Why or why not?
Yeah, definitely. I think because I have always felt like my name belongs to me – I’ve never been the kind of person to change my name or adopt a fake handle online or whatever. When I consider magical traditions that have you pick a magical name, I sort of boggle at the idea. Why call myself something else when Ealasaid is who I am? I think that’s largely because I grew up with a weird name.

  2. How is the wedding planning going? Yes, I want to hear every detail.
Hee! Well, let me pull up the Wedding Spreadsheet of Doom (yes, that’s its filename). Our summary checklist looks like this:

    • Antwon’s clothes
    • Attendants X
    • Cake X
    • Cake topper X
    • Call non-rsvpers
    • Clean-up crew for site
    • Color scheme X
    • E’s clothes X
    • Alter E’s clothes
    • Engagement rings X
    • Favors X
    • Flowers X
    • Food X
    • Honeymoon plans
    • Location X
    • Mail invites
    • Map for invites
    • Officiant X
    • Order invites X
    • Photographers X
    • Premarital counseling X
    • Reception entertainment X
    • Registries X
    • Reserve block of hotel rooms
    • Songlist
    • Tents
    • Vows
    • Wedding bands
    • Rehearsal dinner
    • Schedule rehearsal

Not bad, eh? I have a dress picked out, and boots to go with it, so yay. I’m really psyched that so many of our friends and family are involved – my oldest friend and her hubby are doing our photography, my future sis-in-law is doing our cake, one of my aunts is doing the food, one of my uncles is doing our cake topper, etc. Pretty schweet.

  3. If you couldn’t live in California, where would you go?
England. Hands down. Probably somewhere in the North of England, near York.

  4. How do you like Movable Type? Is it reasonably easy to use?
Yep! I adore it. It’s kind of a hassle to install but the tech support is awesome and once it’s in it’s a snap. Lots of plugins too, which makes lots of things easy.

  5. Please recommend a musical group, a book, a website, and a movie.
Hmmm. Musical Group: Red Elvises, duh. :) Book: Gentlemen’s Blood: A History of Dueling from Sabers at Dawn to Pistols at Dusk. Website: www.jonathancoulton.com. Music, video, weirdness. Good stuff. Movie: The O Tapes, hands down. This is a movie that every woman and every person who ever plans to have sex with a woman should see. Brilliant. Love it.

    Friendly Photographer here.
Just as a heads up your dress is going to be the first thing you see in any picture it in it. That said we can work with that, but I thought you chould know.

  2. Ealasaid says:

OK, Laughing Muse! I hardly know you so these questions will be kinda general…
    1) How did you find my blog?
    2) What would you say is the oddest cultural difference between the US and Canada?
    3) Share a goofyass story about your cats. (Mine do slow-mo kung fu fighting sometimes, and it is awesome, but definitely goofyass.)
    4) Do you miss anything about the US?
    5) Recommend a book to me. I know I don’t need more books, but I can’t resist asking. :)

  3. Some good questions! My answers are up. (They were up Wednesday, actually; but I actually had things to do – for a change – so didn’t get back here until now.)

  4. agengrgal says:

    OK, here you go!!
    1) How on earth did you wind up going into Ag Engineering?
Passion for ag + good in science and math = give it a try and then wind up sticking to it. It’s such an interesting and diverse field with so many options of further discovery. And where else can you visit with a farmer/rancher, help them do their job better (environmentally friendlier), and see some of the most gorgeous views?
    2) What is the coolest / weirdest thing you’ve ever seen/done in your line of work?
That video on placing concrete in deep forms. What girl can seriously watch a 30 min video about plunging a vibrator into concrete where they watch and narrate the depth of penetration, completeness of vibration, etc. without totally cracking up??? Come on guys!!!
    3) What’s the knitting project you are the proudest of attempting/completing?
Probably the fair isle logo pillow cover – it was big. Non-knitting – the yarn I just spun (after hand dyeing it) this weekend. The next knitting project is going to be a doozy (sp?) – multi-strand, multi-color, multi-patterned laceweight shawl in the design phase.
    4) What’s the last book you read? How was it?
The Good Body by Eve Ensler – insightful and an interesting discussion of how we feel about our bodies that are what allow us to do what we do all the time.
    5) What is the first thing you think of when you hear the phrase “teenage mutant ninja turtles”?
Heroes on the half-shell… turtle power!

  5. Ealasaid says:

Woo! Glad I’m not the only one who has the urge to yell that when I hear TMNT. :) (btw, you’re supposed to post the answers and meme rules in your own journal so you can interview others…)
