Ham and Cheese
Directed by Warren P. Sonoda
Starring Jason Jones, Mike Beaver, Jennifer Baxter, Samantha Bee, Dave Foley, Scott Thompson, Polly Shannon
There are actors we revere, people who make the craft seem like something utterly natural. Richard and Barry are not in that group.
They're utterly dedicated to acting, though, and undeterred by their lack of talent or the people who point it out to them, they are determined to make it. "Ham and Cheese" is a mockumentary that rings painfully true and it's hard not to root for these guys even as they make us (and almost everyone around them) cringe with their terrible attempts at acting.

I thought Ham and Cheese was the worst film I saw at Cinequest.
More of an ugly video than a film, really.
Unfunny, bad sound and poorly conceived.
There are many real actors that are less talented than the ones portrayed here.
This was a waste of time.

You're a fool Len X. This movie was funny. What do you laugh at moron? Nicey nice crap like Along Came Polly? or even nicer fluff like From Justin to Kelly. I saw this at Cinequest and judging by the audience reaction (buckled over in laughter) you were in a very, very small minority.

I agree with Bobby, this movie was awesome. Bad sound, yeah, it wasn't great, but the theatre wasn't great. Shot on video, yeah, they shot the thing for pennies, what did you expect going in? 70mm Imax? Poorly conceived? No way. Great story, two exceptionally bad actors, that spiral deeper into badness.
When have you seen a story like this? In a typical movie, the characters like these would somehow learn how to act and make it big on the silver screen or something. Rags to riches crap. But no, these guys don’t bring in a contrived dues ex machina, they play out the story as it would in life, they don’t go anywhere, but the great thing is, you don’t care that they’re not big Hollywood actors, because these guys feel that they are, and that’s enough. And it’s funny. Non-stop laughs throughout, I swear, I haven’t laughed this hard in months. Good job guys.

This is what comedy should be! This was a brilliant comedy. Forget the fact that this was shot on video, it still displays all the laughs. Imagine this movie shot on film and released by a major Hollywood production company...it would put everything in Hollywood to shame. Funny F-ing film. I'm still laughing at it.

Oh my God guys! I have a hard time believing people liked this movie. I wanted to like it...but my head ached by the end. I had to beg the people who came with me not to leave in the middle. Maybe some judicious cutting would improve it, but I'm with Len X; it was the worst film I saw at Cinequest and did not deserve the buzz I heard about it.

Actually, I've been thinking about it and I realized that I'm an idiot and I only think King of Queens is funny. I'm also 45, single and a premature ejaculater.

Oh, come on, kids. Grow up. Discuss this like reasonable folks or I'll have to lock comments.
