Those who can...Why is it that nearly everyone who finds out that I'm
...assumes I want to teach for a living? On one level, I guess it makes sense - I'm a decent teacher, get along well with most students, and am in the early stages of one of the numerous career paths for would-be teachers everywhere. Based on that, I'm a candidate for full-time teacher status.

Home again, home again...Well, I made it back from LA, so my handful of regular readers can quit worrying. :) Everything went just fine, and we had a good time to boot. Roy Zimmerman and Marc Maron totally rocked. Marc was definitely on his toes, too, and made a wonderfully horrible joke about Hamlet when it was revealed that the front-row folks who weren't laughing at any of his jokes were Danish.
I also saw X-Men 2 again, bringing my total viewings to 4 - more than The Two Towers. Take heed, Peter Jackson - muck with the storyline and a comic book movie will get more of my attention.
Anyway. A good time was had by all. 'course, now I have to deal with that off-kilter, out-of-whack feeling I get when I have a five day weekend and then have to dive right back into working. Feh.

Red Elvises! And Stuff!Dood. Red Elvises totally rock the house. I saw them twice this week, and dear GODS did they rock. They're great musicians, but also great entertainers, and they have so much fun on stage that the FUN vibes just roll out over the crowd. Both shows started kinda slow, with the audience trying to get a handle on this weird band and the wacky gals boogie-ing their hearts out right in front of the stage (that would be my friends and moi). But by the second half of the show, people were dancing and hollering and having a great time. It's impossible not to, with these guys. They're just brilliant.

I am a dork.I bought a holster for my cellphone.
Yes, I did. I'm that much of a dork. It's pretty neat, though - it holds the phone securely, I can swivel it and lock it into a number of positions from vertical to horizontal (it swivels 360 degrees!). It has a clip designed to go on a belt and fits my belt quite nicely.

Summer is FTP'ing in...Most people can tell that summer is on its way by conventional, boring things like, say, the weather, or increased sunlight, or the preponderance of ads on TV for swimsuits, sunblock, and other beach-oriented things.
Me, I can tell summer is on its way because my Mom asks me to check over the HTML curriculum I wrote for her learning center.

This guy is suing Nabisco for marketing Oreos to kids. Apparently partially hydrogenated vegetable oil is a tool of Satan or something.
There's a new 419 fraud scam kicking around. Most online folk have run across the Nigerian ones... this is a bit new. I can't wait for one to show up in my inbox! Not.
Apparently the pill can affect a gal's taste in men. Interesting stuff, but hardly surprising. I mean, everyone knows that hormones play a big part in being attracted to someone, and taking a pill that specifically affects the hormones related to reproduction could easily make a difference.
Whoa!Some people amaze me with their know-how, others with their stupidity. Some boggle my mind with physical beauty, others with their charming personality.
Then there are these folks, many of whom have amassed enough parking tickets in the city of Chicago that their fines total about half my outstanding student loan debt.
Man. Now that's impressive.

They're not pleased with themselves. Web Archive - this is amazing. These guys have been archiving the web since 1996. You can search for a website by URL, and see what it used to look like. This once again proves my point that putting something up on the web is quite possibly one of the stupidist things you can do if you don't want it to be read - even taking down the site doesn't guarantee that the wrong people won't find it eventually.
