Teenagers

Interesting article here, founc via a post by PromoGuy. It's about things teenage girls think about that parents may not realize they think about. Good stuff, really. Parents who don't realize that their teenage girls think about this stuff are naive.

AS someone who was a teenager some time in the last decade, here's my take on it.

  1. I think about sex -- a lot.
Understatement here! Whoa! Yeah. I thought all the guys at my school were pretty much lame and unattractive (there were exactly two guys I was interested in but had no shot at, so I pretty much gave up and lusted after guys on TV), but yeah. I thought about it a lot.
  2. I want to be a star -- or at least be with a star!
I was too much of a loner and misanthrope to really feel this way all the time but I had my moments.
  3. I take your cash flow for granted.
To some extent. I assumed Mom and Dad would take care of everything, although they were pretty struckt about me using my own damn money to buy luxuries.
  4. I'm not religious, but I am spiritual.
Very true. My teen years were the ones where I started moving away from the religious teachings of my youth.
  5. My bedroom is the seat of my soul.
    So true.
  6. I worry about my looks all the time.
Nope, because I didn't really give a shit what my peers thought of me. I sort of figured that everyone at school either didn't like me or didn't care about my looks and that was fine with me because I wasn't trying to impress the boys or anything.
  7. My friends are everything.
    True.
  8. Love hurts.
Not an issue, really, 'cos I didn't date or anything.
  9. The world is a scary place.
Definitely, although I was pretty sure of my abilities to handle anything that came my way.
  10. I love [my parents], and I need [them].
Yeah, although I would have died before admitting it.

Aww, I was all hoping there was some intelligent discussion about the things teenage girls think about, here in the comments. But no, no such luck. :o) But related to the post, you and I were very alike as teenagers. I think we would have been Best Friends Forever!

Sorry, Rave, but my comments were down. D'oh.

I am definitely with you on us being BFF if we'd met in HS, though. ;) That would have been awesome.
