NaNoWriMo: Day 30! DONE!
WOOT! FINISHED!
Final word count: 50,149.
What a year. I learned a lot about my writing style in comparison to Twon's, and had a ton of fun. WOOT. Masochist that I am, I can hardly wait to do it again next year!
Vote, vote, who's got my vote?
The subject of who folks are going to vote for came up on a board recently, and I realized I hadn't taken a hard look at Democratic candidates voting records.
Why do I vote Democratic? I am a hardcore reproductive rights advocate, so any candidate that is pro-forced-birth gets an instant thumbs down from me. I'm also pro gay rights, environmentalism, peace, separation of church and state, civil rights, and social programs to help folks help themselves. I also want to vote for a candidate who has a chance to actually win. So, I vote Democratic in races for major offices.
So, let's see how the major Democratic candidates do for me.

NaNoWriMo: Day 28
WOO. Only 4k to go! Got a lot of writing done today, but not as much as I'd hoped. I'm just not feeling it this evening, writein or no. Feh. Hopefully will do well tomorrow and Friday.

NaNoWriMo: Day 27
Man. Was busy Sunday and wrote 0 words. Was depressed and tired Monday (because I finished the damn plot and had 10k left to write) and wrote 771 words.
Today I am back on track and wrote 2299 words! How, you may ask, is this possible, since I finished the plot and kind of suck at adding padding after the fact?
I'm writing a story one of the characters in the Real Plot can read at some point. Or something. I'll work it in if I feel like it. I've outlined it and everything. It's a big dumb fantasy short story, loosely in the style of Fafhrd and the Grey Mauser. Good times. And I'm being wordy as hell, which I somehow find easier in a fantasy setting than in a modern day one. This year's NaNo has been full of educational tidbits like that.

NaNoWriMo: Day 24

Woo, 40k! I am back on track! Downside: I have 10k words left to go and I am OUT of plot. Crap crappity crap crap. On the bright side, I can probably spend that much padding out people's life stories and whatnot. I'll figure something out. I only have to do 1700/day from here on out, so that's something.

NaNoWriMo Day 23: WOO!
WOO! Over 5k written today! GO ME. Failed utterly to write ANYTHING yesterday, so I had to catch up.
I am, however, having the same problem I have every year: when I am trying to book along and make good wordcount progress, my scenes get shorter and shorter. GRR. I am looking at running out of plot damn quickly, and it is pissing me right off. I gotta get better at translating wordcount panic into padding instead of brevity. On the bright side, I did manage to work a rewrite of the entire Nieman Marcus Cookie Recipe forward into the text.

How odd

The above photo has 1600 views on Flickr. My next most-viewed pic has almost 500 views (it's this crazy shot of Twon). What is it about those stickers that makes people want to view the photo? Is it that they want to enlarge it so they can read them? What's the deal?
Crazy.
Also crazy: my third-most-viewed shot is this one of me doing a makeup test for my Judy Nails costume. It's only five views behind the shot of Twon.
WTF, people. Srsly.

NaNoWriMo: Day 15
Grr. I think this may well have been my least productive and most rage-inducing writein ever. I swear, this entire coffeeshop is full of noisy people with penetrating voices. I only got about 2500 words written and I feel like punching something.
No excerpt today. I am too angry and just want to get the fuck out of here. Grrrr.

NaNoWriMo: Day 13
WOO! Doin' good. I busted out the NaNo Report Card I used last year and tweaked it for this year, and that's helping me out a bit, I think. I'm also having a lot more fun now that I'm back in the groove, pumping out words at 1500 or so an hour. Go me. Excerpt below.

You scored 16!
16-18 correct - You're a true Bay Area native - and you even got some of the EXTRA CREDIT questions! Impressive. Feel free to look down on Los Angeles with pride. (You probably already do.)

NaNo progress = sad, sad, sad.
Well, yesterday I never managed to add to the 1000 words I wrote at the first-minute writein.
And today I have been so busy that I've only managed to get the outline I'm working on about two-thirds-done.
Worse: This weekend is going to be VERY VERY BUSY, and I will be out of the apartment and Doing Things from 8am-10pm both days. So much for catching up at a writein or something.
So. Wordcount: 1000. Until Monday. Not an auspicious start to the month.
Gotta get myself to a buncha writeins next week, I guess.
