Taking the plunge
Wow.
I was emailing with my training partner and realized that not only have I commmitted to showing up early twice a week to class for the forseeable future so he and I can practice for my test, but the only thing that will be keeping me off the mat, schedule-wise, for at least a month is movie screenings. I have cleared out my weeknights.
Sure, there are Blogger get-togethers and that sort of thing, but I figure I'll show up for those after class is over.
This means that except for this week, when I'm going to a Neil Gaiman book signing, I am planning on training four nights a week. It's like the good old days! It's amazing what slow but consistent work in one direction can accomplish. If you'd told me a year ago that I'd be working full time as a tech writer and not tutoring on weeknights, I would have laughed at you.
Go me!

Aikido
I haven't blogged about Aikido in a while, which is lame. I've been training quite a bit - not as frequently as I'd like, mind you, but quite a bit. About 3 times a week, I think. After next week, I'm going to up that to 4 or 5 times a week if all goes well.

Aikido
Well, I'm doing good on the training front - trained Monday and yesterday. yay.
But last night I had a headache and it got bad enough that I left about halfway through class. :( Note to self: on Friday take drugs ahead of time even if you don't think you will need them.
But the best thing is that I managed to structure my fall schedule so that I can train three nights a week! Yay! Three isn't much but it's a big step for me.
And now, back to work.

I *will* test this year!
Ok, I am determined to test for my brown belt before the end of the year. As some of my faithful readers know, I study the martial art Aikido at Aiki Zenshin Dojo in Fremont.
This month marks eleven years since I started training there.
The time has come for me to get my act together and train and test, dammit!
I'm going to start posting about Aikido more in an attempt to get more focussed on this aspect of my life.
