sloggin' along...
Still hanging in there. Just not feeling terribly creative at the moment. It all feels draggy. Damn denouments. And I'm just sure I'll have to spend the last 2000 words or so padding stuff I wrote earlier. *sigh* Oh, well. At least I made it to 44,422 today.
She gave him a lazy smile. “I should really go. A girl needs her beauty sleep, after all, and I’m over due for a shower. Or maybe a long, hot bath.” She reached up and slid her hand around the back of Johnny’s neck, then pulled him toward her and planted a lazy kiss on his lips. “Guess I’ll see you around, Johnny. Take care of yourself.” She gave him one last sly smile and turned around to walk to her car.
“Good night, Belladonna,” he said. She waved at him over her shoulder without turning around.
He shook his head at his own impulse to run after her. That would be profoundly stupid, he knew. He’d met plenty of gals like her, women a guy would give his eyeteeth for. Women who made a man start talking like one of those old dime store paperbacks.
He could tell. He was doing it now. The last thing he needed was to be around a woman like that all the time. He was already more than close enough to being a caricature of himself. He really didn’t want to go all the way and start talking out of the corner of his mouth, chain smoking, and tipping his fedora rakishly to one side.
