Yay!
Wrote 3000+ words at the write in yesterday and over 2000 today. I guess my Break Reminder software really works - my wrists are doing just fine. Plus, having minideadlines all the time seems to help me keep the pace up.
I'm at 35,036 now! Yay!
"What?" Millicent said, "you want one of my records? Why?"
"We collect Raymond Scott Quintent music and in our time nobody has an original seventy eight rpm recording of 'Dinner Music for a Pack of Hungry Cannibals' where we can get at it. They're worth millions of credits, and we don't have that kind of money."
"So you thought you'd just steal it from me?"
"Well, your copy is supposed to go missing some time around now so we figured it would be okay. We checked really carefully and there's no record of your copy turning up again. We figured it was probably destined to be lost or burned or broken. That's the ideal, really, for rescuing a recording of music."
Millicent shook her head. "You're unbelievable!"
"Look, we're just here for the album, we'll leave if you just let us go."
"I don't know about that," Millicent said. "I've had a lot of trouble with people breaking into my home lately. I suppose I could just press charges against you. What would you do then?"
"Um, trigger our pickup. We're supposed to get back then as soon as possible anyway."
"You expect us to believe you're really time travelers?" Johnny demanded.
Belladonna laughed. "Time travelers are no weirder than most of the other crap we've dealt with today, Johnny," she said. "I just think it's funny that this trio of slackers are able to travel through time."
"We bribed a grad student," he said. "It seemed like a good idea at the time."
