Day 10

Wordcount: 14,017

Meh. Hardly wrote anything yesterday, so depressing.

However, wrote about 2k today, so that's good. Any day where I write more than the minimum is a bonus, right?

My wrists are acting up a bit... thank heavens for that break reminder program I have, which makes me stop typing every so often and take a break.

On to today's excerpt...

Evran helped her set up the protective circle, which had to be a bit more powerful than the ones he had learned so far, then stood to one side with the large hanging censer, ready to drop incense onto the now-smoldering coals when she gave him a signal.

He watched Talianna do the invocation, slightly awed. He had heard about this sort of spell working, but had never seen it or even read a detailed account. The sorceress stood in front of the small binding circle she had prepared in the middle of their larger, protective circle, and raised her arms. She chanted words in a language that was harsh and grating. He knew it was the old, formal language of demons, necessary in spells like this but fortunately no longer necessary for communicating with the creatures once they'd been called up.

Evran was so lost in the sound of the chant that he was incredibly startled when the demon actually appeared in the small circle.
