(Yes, I backdated this because I forgot to update yesterday. I am a cheaty bitch, apparently.)

Didn't get to write at all over the weekend. Argh. But I wrote a lot today, so that's a start on catching up. I think I'll hit the Mountain View writeup Tuesday to try and catch up. Sadly, a lot of what I wrote today was really, really boring. I have to find a way to have my main character learn magic without every chapter being a huge lecture from his mentor. Plus, I was really tired yesterday and therefore not bothing to try, say, actually writing well, so most of my prose is crap. Makes it hard to pick an excerpt to put here.
Evran nodded, and closed his eyes. He could see the sphere in his mind, stretching from just under his feet to just over his head. As he pictured it, he said the words. "Safe as earth, clear as air, pure as fire, hard as ice."He felt that same odd shiver in the air, and when he opened his eyes he could almost see the sphere around him. He grinned. "It worked!" But just as the words left his mouth, the sphere vanished.
Talianna smiled at him gently. "Setting the sphere up is one thing; keeping it there is another. Once you can set it up and hold it even while being distracted, I will start to teach you other things. In the meantime, though, I want you to practice shielding as well as your meditation, all right? In fact, it would be a good idea to shield while you meditate."
"Yes, my lady!"
