Stranger in a Strange Land

So I watched The Superbowl today, along with Antwon and a zillion insane Santa Cruz area folks. Now, my previous experience with football chiefly consisted of watching the Rose Bowl every year and nothing else. Needless to say, watching my first professional game was a bit peculiar. Especially when surrounded by people drinking rum, wearing eye patches and going “yarrrrrrrrrr!” at every possible opportunity.

But it was a lot more fun than I expected. I’m not going to turn into a rabid football fan, but I don’t loathe the sport, either. If asked to watch another game with the same group, I would say “sure!” That makes the day a success in my books. :)

And in other news, I totally forgot the Friday Five. I suck.

  1. What is one thing you don’t like about your body?
Just one? Dood, I’m an American Female, I could give you an annotated list the size of a telephone book. One thing? Okay. I’m sick of having Chondromalacia. It’s this pissant knee condition that basically makes it moderately painful to do anything that invoves bending my knees and straightening them again. Stairs suck. I can’t ride a bike. And to add insult to injury, doing nothing hurts too. They just ache in a low key way about 75% of the time (that’s actually an improvement from when I was in High School and college and they ached all the time). It’s getting better but is still around, and it annoys the hell out of me.
  2. What are two things you love about your body?
My eyes are pretty neat, and in spite of my various physical complaints I can do a hell of a lot of stuff I enjoy.
  3. What are three things you want to change about your home?
Well, for starters I really, really want to move out (no offense, Dad!). I want enough bookshelves for all my books to fit on. I want a queen sized bed.
  4. What are four books you want to read this year?
Hm… Gilliam on Gilliam, the new Harry Potter, and any three books from the frickin’ huge stack of Books I Own But Have Not Read yet.
  5. What are five promises you have kept to yourself?
So far I have been to Aikido every Friday since I went back. I’ve been writing in my physical journal more. I’ve been more patient with myself and others. I got and installed a CD-RW drive. I have never worked in a fast food or retail establishment (I swore in High School never, ever to work fast food or retail).
