NaNoWriMo: Day 7

Crossed 5k, woo! Go me. Gotta keep plugging, though. Long way to go to catch up. Siiiigh.
Today’s excerpt below…

“I just don’t know what to do!” Suzie wailed as she closed the door behind her.
Her roommate Lucy fought to keep from rolling her eyes and finally closed them as a last resort. “About what?” she asked, with an air of futility. She knew exactly what her roomie’s problem was, but was hoping to hear it was something, anything else.
“About Chad!” Suzie threw her bags on the ground dramatically and threw herself down on her bed. “He’s out of town for the next four days!”
Lucy went back to what she had been doing: plucking her black eyebrows in a small magnifying hand mirror. “Well, that will give you a chance to get your homework done instead of loitering around his dorm all day long.” It wasn’t that she didn’t sympathise with her hapless roommate — she did. She’d done the unrequited crush thing herself, and it most definitely sucked donkey balls. But after months of listening to Suzie’s plans and hopes and schemes, and then also listening to her roomie’s plaintive wailing when it all came to naught, Lucy’s sympathy account was dangerously close to zero. If her roommate didn’t come up with something soon, her sympathy checks were going to start bouncing. And that was never a good thing. Lucy could get by in polite society just fine most of the time, but once one of her various accounts was overdrawn she could veer into the range of the sociopathic.
