Friday Five

A very romantic Friday Five this week…

1. How many times have you truly been in love?
Twice, I think, although the first time may not count. It was that starry-eyed, he-can-do-no-wrong kind of love, but all on one side (mine; it was completely unreciprocated except on a platonic level), and he ripped my heart out and stomped on it with hobnailed boots. I don’t think he meant to. I think he was just clueless. But it still hurt.
I’m currently very much in love with a great guy who actually does love me back, and it’s wonderful.

2. What was/is so great about the person you love(d) the most?
Wow, I could write a treatise here. Hm… he’s witty, honest, patient, creative, intelligent as hell, sweet, a truly nice guy, and just insane enough to be interesting without being truly frightening/disturbing/offputting. I feel like I can just be myself around him – I don’t have to self-censor around him like I do with nearly everyone else. He can always make me laugh. Always. He’s cuter than a barrel of hamsters, too. There’s more but I’d bore you all to tears and make you nauseous with the saccharine-sweetness of it all, so I’ll stop.

3. What qualities should a significant other have?
Hm… basically, see above. The cute thing is a bonus, but not required. :)

4. Have you ever broken someone’s heart?
Not that I know of. I mean, there have been guys who were interested in me but I wasn’t interested in them – but I tried really hard not to give them false hopes or anything.
All the other folks I’ve dated have, if memory serves, dumped me, not the other way around.

5. If there was one thing you could teach people about love, what would it be?
Hm… I’m not some guru or anything, but I’m starting to think that 90% of people’s relationship problems could be solved by just talking about them honestly. I know people in relationships where they’re not happy, and almost all of them are unhappy because of things that are fixable but they or their partners just won’t talk about it. The others are in relationships that probably should have been over a while ago, but they’re hanging on out of fear or habit or something.
