Debates and the Daily Show

I will not be watching the debates tonight.
There are two reasons for this.

  1. I think they’ll make me angry (well, angrier).
  2. I have to work.

Fortunately, I will be home in time for the Daily Show, which will no doubt cover them and give me a good feeling for what went down without taking a ton of time to do so.
I don’t think this is going to be bad for me as an informed voter. After all, studies have shown that viewers of The Daily Show tend to be well-informed (take that, O’Reilly! We “stoned slackers” are smarter than your audience!) while, say, Fox News actively misinforms its viewers. Plus I already know who I’m going to vote for, so the debates will serve only to inflict more agonizing Bush stupidity and painful Kerry circumlocution on me.
